Meet Coronet

Our weekend foster friend

Helping with local humane societies has always been important to me.  Whether it is donating to them, volunteering, or helping out in other ways like fostering.  While adopting a dog was an original goal, we soon learned that allergies was not going to make that a long term possibility.  Still, we love dogs and enjoy having one in the house for short periods (before the allergies start kicking in).

What makes fostering such a wonderful opportunity to help with local shelters is the chance to give the animal a break from the shelter while being able to learn what the animal is like in a home setting.  At the shelter, there isn’t any real chance to see how the animal will do with different types of animals (like chickens), or how they will handle a crate, and so on.  While Coronet was with us, we learned that she loves watching tv!

Is it too cliche that we watched Scooby-Doo while she was with us?

We learned that she actually enjoys being in a crate:

We had the opportunity to work on her training, both with house training and tricks:

And we learned how she does with farm animals.  Turns out she’s actually afraid of chickens.  I don’t blame her, though.  Chickens are a bit crazy!
