When the temperatures start turning colder and the mornings come with frosts on the ground, this is the pizza that pops into my head when pizza night rolls around.
It’s comforting and satisfying, plus the garlic gives it an immunity kick for the oncoming cold and flu season.
Garlic, Bacon, and Ham Pizza
Ingredients
- 1⁄4 cup extra virgin olive oil
- 5 slices bacon
- 1 cup chopped ham
- 1⁄2 small onion, thinly sliced
- 1⁄2 cup mushrooms chopped or sliced
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
- 1⁄4 teaspoon pepper
- dough for 1 pizza
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella, provolone, or a mix of the two
- 1 tablespoon parsley, chopped fine (optional)
Directions
Preheat oven to 500 degrees F and brush your pizza pan or a baking sheet (whichever you’re using) with 2 tablespoons of the extra virgin olive oil.
Cook the bacon, making sure to remove it from the pan slightly earlier than your preferred crisp level. Once cooled enough to touch, tear the bacon into half inch pieces.
In a medium sized mixing bowl, combine remaining 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil, ham, onion, mushrooms, garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
Roll out pizza dough and prick lightly with a fork to prevent bubbles from forming while dough cooks. Transfer to the pizza pan or baking sheet.
Sprinkle the dough with the 2 cups of cheese, followed by the ham, onion, and mushroom mixture. Lastly, sprinkle on the torn bacon pieces.
Bake for 10 minutes.
When done, sprinkle pizza with chopped parsley, cut into desired pieces, and serve.
