A yummy, fruity freeze!
In the fall, we buy a ton of gallons of apple cider from local orchards and put them in the freezer to enjoy the following summer. With hot temps, nothing beats some cold cider. Well…
Nothing beats cold cider blenderized with some frozen fruit to make the ultimate kid loving brain freeze!
What’s really great about this recipe is how easily the ingredients can be changed out. I used cider and frozen peaches for the pictured smoothie, but I’ve blended the cider with frozen strawberries, frozen blueberries, etc. and always gotten yummy results. Don’t like cider? Swap that out for your favorite fruit juice. It really is that simple.
And simple is good.
Simple Cider Slushy
Prep time: 2 minutes
Ingredients:
- 1 cup frozen fruit of choice. Strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, and peaches go really well with cider
- 1 cup cider – possibly more depending on fruit used and thickness of slushy
Directions:
Toss frozen fruit into blender or food processor. Add cider.
Make sure the lid is on the blender/processor because it may splash at first. Turn the blender on and puree to a slushy consistency. If the fruit mix is too thick and won’t swirl in the blender, add some more cider.
Pour into cups and enjoy!
