For anyone interested writing for the Christian market, I highly recommend checking out The Christian Writers Market Guide:

The great part about this series (I’m going to call it a series because they publish one yearly to keep current with the market) is that it offers a great amount of information.

From publishers, to agents, to types of markets that publish Christian writings such as periodicals, plays, greeting cars, etc.  It fully exhausts all outlets you might be wanting to write for in the Christian market.  With it being updated yearly, you also know that you are getting relevant information that isn’t outdated.

It is easy to navigate.  The book is broken down into 5 main parts

  • Part 1: Traditional Book Publishers
  • Part 2: Independent Book Publishing
  • Part 3: Periodical Publishers
  • Part 4: Specialty Markets
  • Part 5: Support for Writers

I especially appreciate how the Periodical Publishers section offers lists of publishers sorted by topic at the beginning.  So, if you want to write articles about family, rather than searching through the entire section and combing through each, individual listing to see if the publisher is interested in family articles, you can look at the beginning of the section and find the list with the headline FAMILY.  I love it.  There’s poetry, short story (fiction), interviews, how-to, etc.  A lot of options for writers and that’s just in the Periodical Publishers section!

The Christian Writers Market Guide also offers a section for the technical aspects of writing.  Are you looking for editorial help?  Are you wanting to attend some writers conferences?  Legal services?  Do you want to take part in a contest?  PART 5 offers all of that information.

You can buy copies of The Christian Writers Market Guide at Amazon HERE and Walmart HERE, as well as many other locations that sell books.

Happy researching!
