I love chocolate and I love having smooth lips.  Chapped lips stink and are annoying, especially when your husband has them and thinks that’s perfectly fine and tries to kiss you.  News flash:  Kissing chapped lips is not fun!  Unfortunately, my daughter inherited this disgust for putting on chapstick.  She fought every lip balm/chapstick from the store, so I decided to give it a go with making my own.

I’m not going to lie, I do like the convenience of just buying something.  However, this recipe makes a wonderfully scented (chocolate!), pleasant tasting (yummy chocolate!), chapstick that does wonders for soothing dry lips (and chocolate cravings!).

The ingredients (minus the castor oil) are given by weight, so you will need a scale.  It is, also, very helpful to heat the ingredients in something with a lip, like the glass measuring cup I show below or a pot with a lip.  You can pour the melted ingredients into a small jar, or chapstick tubes, or whatever catches your fancy to act as a holder.

Here we go:

Luscious Chocolate Chapstick

Time needed:  10-15 minutes     Makes: roughly 1/4 cup or 8 chapstick tubes

Ingredients:

2 Tablespoons castor oil

7 grams beeswax

12 grams cocoa butter

4 grams dark chocolate

Mix all ingredients together in glass cup or pot with lip.  Melt on very low heat, stirring frequently.  Once everything is melted, pour into designated chapstick holder and let sit until firmed.

It’s as easy as that.  Now, because my daughter was helping, she wanted to make a funny video of her favorite Dino protecting the melting chaptstick.
